Royal T’s Lord Baden Powell-A Journey

So it has been a few days since I blogged, Dear Bloggites. I am sorry. See I had a mini crisis with my wonderful dog, Baden. He is a black and white Chihuahua, yes, he is black and white.
Baden came into my life eight years ago (once December hits) via my sister, Kathy. See, this puppy of 5 weeks old showed me an attitude when I paid attention to the other puppies…yes, would not look at me, turned his head away as far as he could when I went to go give him a kiss…a major attitude. If he was happy he would stick the front of his tongue out of his mouth with a smile on his face (yes-my dog smiles!). That attitude and tongue smile is what made me fall in love my Baden.
He is named after the founding father of The Boy Scouts of America. He hikes, camps, plays, and loves. He always greets anyone who comes to the door and welcomes them for visiting HIM… 🙂
Well my sweet little doggie with the attitude had a regular visit to his vets this past Thursday. He was supposed to go in and get his teeth cleaned and his nails dremmelled down. A total cost of $100. So I get up at the crack of dawn and put my dog into my Jeep and we head to the vet.
I dropped him off and found he was going to be ready by 3pm that afternoon. I go visit my mother and father who live right up the road from my vets while I wait. About two hours goes by and I get a call to inform me that he is nice and sleepy with the medication they gave him to sleep through the procedures (side note: my vet is Awesome-they call every step of the way, send Christmas cards, birthday cards for my dog, and updates).
About another hour goes by and I get a call, they are cleaning his teeth and find several loose teeth in his mouth. They said one is very infected, so much that when they touch it pus leaks from his gums-OUCH!
So they say he will need about 10 teeth pulled. I tell them do what you have to so my baby is fine. They let me go and proceed to do as I ask. I recieve another call telling me that two of his teeth fell out as soon as they removed the tartar from around them. They pulled some teeth and were going to start pulling his back molar when suddenly my baby turned blue!
They immediately stopped all work and revived him. He recovers well enough but is in a whole bunch of pain. Vet said to make sure he only eats soft dog food for the next two weeks and take his antibiotics for ten days. If he runs low, call and they will give me more to ensure he gets that infection gone.
They call me and said I can pick him up early (2:30). I get to the vet’s office and they said he is going to be in alot of pain and his tongue will stick out some from the front of his mouth. He lost his two top canines and so his tongue is not able to be held in as well.
I informed the vet that my dog has always stuck his tongue out so it sticking out a little more will not be a problem. I pick up my dog and we head home. He is totally drugged up and sleepy. I can tell he is in a lot of pain as well.
We get home and I check out my dog’s mouth, and I find that I left my dog at the vets in the morning with only a $100 planned on being spent and brought home a redneck dog and a pocketbook $330 lighter!
