We have all heard the saying “beauty is in the eye of the beholder” but how many realize their own beauty within?  In a world where beauty is worshiped as if it were a god, people have a hard time seeing what a beautiful person they truly are within.  In this installment of the ABCs of encouragement with the #BloggiteBits Campaign, I am going to talk about your internal beauty and encourage you to Uplift B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L. in your mind and realize your own internal beauty: Brainy, Encouraging, Adventurous, Unconditional, Talented, Individual, Funny, Unashamed, & Likeable.

Brainy: Nothing screams beautiful than a person with a keen intellect.  I am not talking about Pulitzer Prize intellect, but someone who actually uses their brain for good interactions with others.  Being brainy and showing it to the world makes for a beautiful mind and people stop and notice it.  Celebrate cerebral communication, it is rare to find and when you do find it, be sure to embrace and uplift the person who owns that mind.

Encouraging: How many of you turn away from someone who encourages you?  No ONE!  Internal beauty is found when you are encouraging others.  Too often people get so caught up in everyday life, they forget to stop and thank the person who helps encourage them to achieve the next level of them.  Being encouraging, people will see the beauty inside.  If you come across that encouraging beauty in another, be sure to uplift their beautiful mind.

Adventurous: We all love an adventure.  No matter how large or small the adventure may be, embrace your adventurous side and let your beauty shine.  Being adventurous allows others to see the fun side of your mind.  Adventure is meant to be shared with others, however, finding the adventure in all your situations will shine through to others.  When you share your adventurous side, others will uplift your beautiful, fun side that shines through.

Unconditional: An unconditional mind is a terrible thing to waste.  Finding someone who gives of themselves unconditionally is a true beauty, indeed.  When you are interacting with others, ask yourself if you are helping in an unconditional mindset or if you are expecting something in return.  Finding an unconditional person is truly worthy of uplifting the beautiful mind inside.

Talented: A talented mind is a beautiful thing.  A person who uses their creativity to envision various different scenarios and play them out in their heads when faced with a challenge is an amazing person.  Use your talented mind to find various different ways to approach a situation and you will see that others will realize your worth.  They will uplift your beautifully talented mind and turn to you for more assistance when needed.

Individual: Be different.  Having an individual mindset will help you stand out in a crowd.  Instead of being a worker bee mindlessly doing something, be a butterfly and spread your wings and dance on the wind.  In order to uplift your beautiful mind, you need to be willing to go against the grain and do your own thing.  People will take notice and will follow your lead.

Funny: A funny mind is a beautiful mind.  Life is taken way too seriously these days.  Gone are the days of old when you did not have to worry about what you say will be taken the wrong way and out of context.  Finding a funny mindset is like finding a diamond in a coal mine.  Being funny will help uplift your beautiful for all to see.

Unashamed: Be unashamed of who you are and how you think.  Finding your inner beauty means you know who you are and accept it, flaws and all.  Do not apologize for who you are or how you think.  You have a right to think the way you do and being unashamed of yourself helps uplift your beautiful mind and soul.

Likeable: Being likeable is a good thing.  Did you know that just because someone is good does not mean they are likeable?  It is true.  Being a likeable person means that you automatically make people feel at ease as soon as you walk into a room.  Having a likeable mind means that you have an ability to put people at ease with just a single word.  People will uplift your beautiful mind when they realized what a treasured gift you have in being likable.

Tranquil W.O.R.L.D.: Wistfully serene, One with peace, Restful nature, Leisurely style, Deliberate calmness

Calm is the Heart, Tranquil is the Mind.  I love this statement.  It is my saying I tell myself every morning when I wake up to start my day.  This world is so hectic and go, go, go all the time, I have to make myself remember that I am in control of my world.  In this installment of the ABCs of encouragement with the #BloggiteBits Campaign, I am going to tell you how I choose to live in my Tranquil W.O.R.L.D. while life rushes all around me: Wistfully serene, One with peace, Restful nature, Leisurely style, & Deliberate calmness.

Wistfully serene: Wistful.  Such a wonderful word that is hardly ever heard of now.  Serene, just saying the word and you can feel the tranquility overcome you.  When I wake up in the morning, I remind myself that there is only so much I have control over that happens throughout the day and I need to accept the things I have no control over.  I also remind myself that putting my mind in a wistfully serene mode when faced with things out of my control will help me keep control over my responses.  This little exercise goes a long way in assuring I maintain a tranquil world.  Try some of your own personal encouraging mantras when you wake up and see how it affects your day.

One with peace: Peace.  We all preach “let there be peace in the world” but how many of you allow yourself to be one with peace in your personal life?  Each day I remind myself that I will intentionally keep myself one with peace.  I say intentionally because peace has to be intentional.  People default to defense when faced with things that make them feel uncomfortable, so in order to fight that default you have to intentionally channel the peace within.  I am not going to lie, Dear Bloggites, it is a challenge for me to channel my inner peace when I have to deal with the personal challenges that are surrounding my life with my loved ones, but I do make it a point.  Funny, I find it easier to become one with peace than I do raging against the disease, but it can be challenging.  I do not let it stop me, I always find that peace in the end and my tranquil world is once again in my control.

Restful nature: Restful.  Having a tranquil world helps you have a restful nature, however, having a restful nature will improve your tranquil world.  I know, strange statement; but basically, a restful nature and a tranquil world go hand-in-hand.  If you find you are restless, try and do something that will help you relax.  Reading is a good go-to for me when I feel restless.  I have many things around me that I can pick up and do in order to regain my restful nature.  Make a list of things that you know relaxes you and try and surround yourself with a few, if not all, of these things to turn to on bad days.

Leisurely style: Leisure.  Most of us tend to go all out from the moment we wake up until we go back to bed.  A tranquil world needs a leisurely style from you each day.  My leisurely style time is late at night once I go to my bedroom.  I am a very active person mentally and slowing my mind down to a leisurely pace is hard.  I make sure to unplug from the world once I go to my bedroom and allow my mind to decompress either by reading or listening to a good book.  As my mind focuses on the story unfolding, it begins to slow down to my leisurely style of thinking.  Find your leisurely style to tap into each day, it will help your tranquil world to flow over you.

Deliberate calmness: Calm.  Just saying the word out loud relaxes me.  Like peace, calmness requires a deliberate, intentional mental act on your part.  To find your tranquil world, you need to embrace a deliberate calmness when life throws those screw balls at you.  Each day, before I walk into a new situation, I take a deep breath and let it out slowly while mentally calming my mind and body down.  I do this from the simple act of shopping in a store (which I do not like to do) to walking into the latest visit to my Paternal Half’s (Dad’s/Dah’s) Oncologist’s office.  It only takes a moment to find your deliberate calmness each time and you will find your tranquil world waiting for you.

How many of you have ever felt you were unworthy of something?  How many times were you told you worth was not important?  I am here to tell you, these two things are wrong and your worth is absolutely important.  You are important to all those who know and love you.  Never accept the statements of being unworthy.  In this installment of the ABCs of encouragement with the #BloggiteBits Campaign, I am going to help you see you have Sufficient W.O.R.T.H. in the eyes of those who know you: Well-balanced, Objective, Reasonable, Thoughtful, & Honorable.

Well-balanced: Sufficient worth contains several elements.  I am going to touch on five of them here.  The first one is being well-balanced.  It is hard to juggle all the different balls we have to work with each day.  Finding a balance seems impossible, however, to feel a sense of self-worth, you need to figure out a way to find the balance.   It might mean reassessing commitments and determine which need to go and which need to stay.  No one likes to disappoint people when they are asked to do something, but having sufficient worth in your life means you know the art of saying no.

Objective: A second element of sufficient worth is being objective.  Having an ability to look at situations from all points of view with no bias is a special trait.  When you go through life, be sure to have an objective outlook when faced with a decision or situation.  Your self-worth will become much stronger if you know that your decision process is free of bias and solely based on facts.

Reasonable: A third element of sufficient worth is being reasonable.  Reasonability is becoming a trait of the past.  When facing all situations in life, keeping your wits about you and addressing all things in a reasonable manner will help your self-worth soar on a daily basis.

Thoughtful: The fourth element of sufficient worth is being thoughtful.  Going through life in a thoughtful manner will help prevent you from rash responses when faced with challenges.  Being thoughtful in your deeds not only helps your self-worth, but it helps people stay at ease as well.

Honorable: The fifth and final element of sufficient worth is that of being honorable.  Think of someone you trust completely.  Does that person act honorable toward others?  Being an honorable person means you show utmost respect to all you come in contact with and never cause them to question your intentions.  Acting in an honorable manner will help you stand out among others and that knowledge will help your self-worth grow by leaps and bounds.

Life is too serious.  People have forgotten how to decompress, unplug, and reconnect with themselves.  In this installment of the ABCs of encouragement with the #BloggiteBits Campaign, I am going to suggest some mental release and help you Rejuvenate F.A.N.C.Y. in your mind and life: Fantasy escape, Atmospheric retreat, Neurological refresh, Conscious cleanse, & Yearn deeply.

Fantasy escape: Taking a break from all the demands and seriousness of life is hard.  Your mind needs a reset and one great way to refresh it is to create a fantasy escape for you to go to mentally when life gets to be too much.  I am not talking about anything erotic (unless that’s your thing, I don’t judge 😉 ), what I am talking about is creating a mental escape that will help you relax and decompress.  Your fantasy escape is yours and yours alone.  Everyone is different.  My fantasy escape is imagining myself in a secluded log cabin that faces a lake.  In my fantasy, I imagine myself sitting on my comfy chair in front of the fire reading a good book with a glass of wine on the table and classical music playing in the background.  When I feel too overwhelmed, I just close my eyes for a few minutes and imagine my fantasy escape and just let my body release everything and allow my mind to reset.  Create your own fantasy escape and go to it regularly to keep your mind fresh and clear.

Atmospheric retreat: Another great mind reset is an atmospheric retreat.  This type of retreat is good for your overall well-being as well as your mind.  An atmospheric retreat is where you adjust your environment to help you find the mental and physical comfort of the highest order.  You have all heard the saying “remove yourself from the situation” before, Dear Bloggites.  An atmospherics retreat goes along those lines.  It is a location you have chosen and set up for your own personal escape.  One atmospheric retreat I have is in my bedroom.  From the bedding on the bed to the colors throughout the room, I immediately find my mind and body begin to relax as soon as I walk into the room.  Create your own personal atmospheric retreat that you can go to for immediate reset of the mind and body as soon as you enter into the space.

Neurological refresh: Finding ways to decompress is necessary for all of us.  If we were unable to relax and clear the mind we would all go crazy.  A good mental release you can do to decompress is a neurological refresh.  A neurological refresh is a simple task of changing focus from a stressful demand to something entertaining for the mind.  An entertaining mind refresh is something you enjoy doing.  My neurological refresh I like to do is read a good book.  When I delve into a good book, my mind is able to break away from those stressful demands and enter into the world found in the pages of the book.  Figure out your own neurological refresh, be it reading, watching TV, or going for a walk.  Make sure to allow time to create a mind reset by engaging in your personal neurological refresh.

Conscious cleanse: A conscious cleanse is good for a mind reset.  When you feel overwhelmed by the many decisions you make throughout the day, your mind becomes cluttered and in need for freedom of any decisions for a moment.  A conscious cleanse is just that.  Imagine soft drops falling over your mind washing away all the clutter in the mind.  Even though our minds stay active, you can take a moment and think of nothing.  Sounds funny, but figuring out a technique that can cleanse your conscious to just a blank slate will do wonders for your overall mental health which in turn makes your mind stronger to deal with everyday decisions.

Yearn deeply: As children, we knew the joy of longing and yearning for things we desired.  As adults, we do not find joy in longing and yearning.  Why is that?  Yearning deeply helps us tap into the recesses of our minds.  These recesses help open up our mind’s ability to imagine the unimaginable for our lives.  A final mental reset to utilize when life gets too serious is to yearn deeply for something you desire to do.  Tapping into those deep recesses gives your mind a break from the demands of life and begin to find that joy we used to feel as children.

How many of you have had friends who seem to only be there for you when you are going strong in your life?  How many of those friends are nowhere to be seen when times get tough?  We have all suffered from “friends” like that, you know the ones, Dear Bloggites.  The “friends” who are smiling to your face while stabbing you in the back once you turn.  These friends are called (appropriately so) frenemies.  Have you ever questioned if you are being a good enough friend to those you care about?  In this installment of the ABCs of encouragement with the #BloggiteBits Campaign, I am going to cover some constant traits of a Quality F.R.I.E.N.D. and help you understand what those traits do to the ones you care about: Faithful, Respectful, Intuitive, Entertaining, Nice, & Daring.

Faithful: Being a quality friend means you are faithful to the friendship.  Faithful is not in the sense of faithful boyfriend/girlfriend but it is faithful meaning always being there for that person.  A faithful friend will always drop what they are doing when you truly need them in time of crisis as well as in time of celebration.  If you strive to be a quality friend, assess your faithful quality toward those you care about and make it a point to be there when you are needed no matter how much life tries to get in the way.

Respectful: Being a quality friend also means you are respectful to your friends.  We all like to get snarky and tease one another, heck, that is what a friendship is about, but even through all the teasing and sarcastic comments, be sure your words still hold that respectful tone.  Everyone wants to be respected and you should always respect others, especially those you claim to care about.  Watch your tones when talking to your friends and be sure to always show that respect no matter what you say and do toward them.

Intuitive: Being a quality friend brings a sense of intuition to the relationship.  Being intuitive does not mean you are reading their minds, it means you are fully aware of your friend and can read when something is wrong without a word being spoken.  As you build your relationships, the ability to be intuitive to those people will grow.  Make sure you truly look at your friends when you first engage them and allow your intuition to kick in and assess their overall appearance and attend to any needs you sense.

Entertaining: Being a quality friend has its trait of entertainment.  How many have you come into contact with that seems to not have any joy or interest in having fun?  Being a quality friend, you bring the entertaining aspect to the relationship.  There are times for seriousness and there are times for entertainment and even in moments of seriousness, you might find the need for entertaining your friend just the right medicine to bring the serious level down.

Nice: Being a quality friend means you should always be nice to those you care about.  Sounds really simple, but do you know how rare it is to find someone who is genuinely nice?  Very rare in this age of the ‘me’ mentality and where being rude and disrespectful is the norm.  If you desire to truly be a quality friend, be sure to be nice to your friends.  Honestly ask them how they are doing and mean it by listening to them and engaging in their life.

Daring: Being a quality friend means you should bring the element of daring to the relationship.  Being daring does not mean doing stupid stuff, it just means look for stuff to do that you would not normally do.  If neither one of you are outdoorsy, plan a hike or a horseback riding day.  Daring does not mean dangerous, it just means find the unusual element of fun for the two of you to experience during your time together.

When you are faced with challenges each day, it is very easy to give in to the desperation and anxiety.  The anguish you feel when life seems to be going against you tends to make your outlook rather gloomy and negative.  In this installment of the ABCs of encouragement with the #BloggiteBits Campaign, I challenge you to turn around that thinking with these Optimistic A.C.T.I.O.N. techniques.  Applying these techniques on a daily basis, no matter how rough life may seem, will help keep the negativity away: Affirmation, Charismatic, Thankful, Influential, Outgoing, & Nurturing.

 Affirmation: Mental affirmation is what I want to talk to you about.  What you say to yourself daily in your mind determines your outlook on life and how you react to situations.  Optimistic action involves affirming oneself daily so your optimism tank stays full thus activating your action tank to react in positive, reaffirming ways with others.

Charismatic: Having a charismatic mentality does not mean you have to be a loud outspoken person of faith.  It does mean that you have the ability to draw people to you and influence their behavior.  Daily optimistic actions are easier if you make it a point to be a charismatic person in all you do.  Do not be afraid to step up and become a leader in an activity.  Keeping the optimism in your mind, you will show a charismatic personality that others will be draw to.

Thankful: Being thankful for everything you have in life is hard for most people.  Intentional daily reminders to have a thankful mentality will go far on helping you keep the optimistic actions each day.  Your thankful mentality will help you appreciate all the little things others bring to the table and they will feel validated for your thankfulness.

Influential: We all desire to be influential, but did you know you probably already are?  People watch other’s actions all the time.  A young family member or friend is influenced by the actions of someone older than them.  Even your pets can be influenced by your actions!  Make sure to stay aware of who might be watching what you do wherever you go.  Be sure your optimistic actions are a positive influence for others.

Outgoing: An outgoing personality is always an attention getter.  The question is will your outgoing activity be one of encouragement or discouragement?  Optimistic actions go well with an outgoing personality.  Each day, try and break out of your comfort zone and do something of an outgoing nature that you would not normally do.  I promise after the nervousness wears off you will have a blast!

Nurturing: A nurturing mentality goes a long way on helping you have optimistic actions.  When you are nurturing, you are stepping outside yourself and putting other’s needs ahead of you.  Nurturing does not mean to coddle or baby someone, it just means to care for someone else’s needs and provide them with what they need.  Optimistic actions are better received with a nurturing mentality.

We are all dreamers in our own rights.  Some have simple dreams of having enough money to pay their bills and put food on the table each month while others dream they will someday travel the world and change it for the better.  It is the dreamers that build better worlds and it is the dreamers who keep us young at heart.  One of the great things about being a dreamer is that you can help impact so many lives by tapping into other people’s dreams and building them up.  In this installment of the ABCs of encouragement with the #BloggiteBits Campaign, I am going to give you some tricks that will increase your ability to dream of a better life.  I will encourage people to have a New V.I.S.I.O.N. of their life they are currently living and impact the lives of other dreamers they come into contact with: Verbal encouragement, Increase karma, Spark creativity, Inspire minds, Open worlds, & Noteworthy attributes.

Verbal encouragement: Everyone loves to hear encouraging words.  A simple, “Way to go!” given to someone has a massive impact on that person’s day.  As dreamers (which we all are), we love to feel the positive energy surge when someone gives a verbal encouragement to us.  As you encounter others on your daily trek through life, be sure to provide at least five people with some kind of verbal encouragement.  I say five, but even if you only verbalize one encouragement a day, it is still impacting others as well as yourself.  When you make a point to share verbal encouragement, that sharing lifts your own spirits which will help you have a new vision in your life daily.

Increase karma:  We have all heard the adage, “Karma is a bitch” but did you know karma is both good and bad?  When I suggest you increase karma, I am meaning the good karma that is out there to share.  Increasing someone’s good karma is as simple as only focusing positive vibes at that person you are engaging with.  Positivity in mind, body, and soul helps a person feel like they are living under the good karma cloud.  As you go about your daily life, be sure to increase other’s karma by showing encouraging signs of love and support when you share a positive word with them.

Spark creativity: We all know that little spark.  The spark in the dark that illuminates everything around it.  Creativity is usually ignited with a spark.  Sparking creativity in yourself and others is so much fun to do and witness once it takes place.  Allow yourself time to day dream like you used to do as a child.  Day dreams allow our minds to wander into the world of creativity.  When you engage others, think of ways to spark their creativity.  Find out what they dream about and help them brainstorm ways to be able to realize their passions in life with a new vision.

Inspire minds: The mind is a terrible thing to waste.  A mind should be exercised and one of the best exercises for a mind is to find inspiration.  When you inspire minds, you will see a mental shift in the person whose mind is being inspired.  People get so busy in their day to day lives, they tend to forget to exercise their mind with fun, day dreamy stuff.  As adults, many people think they have to all of a sudden become serious and not allow fun into their lives anymore.  This is not the case.  As an adult, a person should work to inspire their mind on a daily basis if for no other reason than to see the hope in the world.  Make sure when you are interacting with others that you try and inspire their minds.  They will appreciate you more for it.

Open worlds: Having an active mind with an ability to inspire and create things, you are able to find new vision in your life.  Finding new vision helps open new worlds in your life as well as others.  When you come across a fellow dreamer, engage their mind in such animated conversation that their mind will begin to open to new worlds of opportunity.  Having the ability to open yourself to new worlds of opportunity will help you achieve goals and dreams, who doesn’t love that idea?

Noteworthy attributes: What is one trait that draws you to a person?  Someone who has noteworthy attributes will always stand out in a crowd.  Noteworthy attributes are things that stick out on a person in a very good way.  An example is someone who donates their time to help feed the homeless.  They do it because they honestly care and not because it is expected of them.  When engaging others in conversations, make sure to always show the attributes you have that are positive and effective.  Being a person with noteworthy attributes means you truly do embrace all people equally and strive to help as many as you can.
