Slow And Steady…

Hello, Dear Bloggites. ūüôā¬† I am happy to let you know that change is happening, slowly and surely, the change is going to happen.¬† This change is leading toward reaching some more goals that I set back in 2017 and renewed in 2018.

Change 3 Update: My current business is surviving this lull in the industry and seems to finally have bounced back‚Ķcontinue to find ways to build income from this business – I am glad and sad to say my coworker has found another job due to the reduction in work orders.¬† I am glad for him and his new journey, but sad, because he has helped me build my business and we have worked together for the past few years.¬† I know he will have great success in his new journey. ūüôā

Change 3 Update: I will find myself on my own again with my son, the dog, and the guinea pig with no roommate for the first time in, geez, years – Because of the new job status for my coworker, it puts me one step closer to being on my own again.¬† With the drive he has to make each day, and with the steady increase in income, it will allow him to find his own place in a few months. ūüôā

As you can see, I just wanted to check in with y’all and let you know what is going on.¬† It has been a couple of days since I blogged last, but this one puts me back on schedule.¬† I am excited about the new changes taking place and I hope you will continue with me on this awesome journey! ūüôā

What exciting changes are happening in your life?¬† Share in the comments below.¬† Look forward to chatting with you. ūüôā

Remember When…

Let’s turn back time to 2017.¬† Remember when I posted New Year, New Start 2017 on January 1, 2017?¬† Don’t remember, Dear Bloggites, click the link, take a moment to read the post, I can wait right here for you.¬† Let me know when you are back.

Okay, now that you are back, I had grand plans with those three key words: Change, Passion, and Luck.  Today, I was flipping through my notebook of the different scribbles I make, some on new written works, some on classes, some on random thoughts to do something with, on this flipping excursion, I came across this:

Goals 2017

Now, if you look real close, you will see the graph I made on adding one new thing each month.¬† January just had ‘Skin Regiment’ which I started (thus the check over it); February added ‘Get Dressed’, odd goal but those of you who work from home will understand the ease it is to just stay in the PJs all day; March added ‘Workout’ to the other two items.¬† Now, as you already have noticed, I did not check off ‘Get Dressed’ or ‘Workout’ and the ensuing months, I added nothing, nada, the big fat 0!

All those goals and plans withered away and died as life began demanding all my time.  Also, the items and sub-items for Change, Passion, and Luck, did not happen.  A synopsis of the goals and if it happened or not:

Change 1: I will find myself on my own again with my son, the dog, and the guinea pig¬†with no roommate for the first time in, geez, years – Did not happen and we lost my son’s guinea pig earlier this year.¬† Still hoping the roommate moves out but until he can find sustainable money coming in, I don’t see it happening too soon. ūüė¶

Change 2: I have been paying for a gym membership for the past year and have not utilized it…going to utilize this gym membership to change my health for the better and reach the weight I am happiest at once again –¬†Did not happen, however, I did let that gym membership close and now I paid for an entire year at another gym closer to my house, maybe this year…

Change 3: My current business is surviving this lull in the industry and seems to finally have bounced back…continue to find ways to build income from this business – My current business is still struggling and my co-worker is looking for another job because there is not enough work for two people to do (if you have not figured it out, my roommate is my co-worker).

Change 4: I am going to take advantage of the social invites I get and start actually going – Didn’t happen, I am getting better, but not where I wanted to be.

Passion 1: I have a¬†wordsmith business…I plan on growing this business up, one client at a time and look forward to the new relationships I shall make along the way – While I have had some clients, it is nowhere near where I wanted to be at this time now.

Passion 2: I am now looking at taking myself seriously as a writer and growing this part of me on a personal level…My¬†goal is to sign up for some form of writing class each month to build my talent as a writer and start opening doors to the publishing world to promote myself as a writer – I did good with the classes for the first three months, as well as, writing, but then life scattered the classes and writing to the wind.

Luck 1: I know with every situation I face, I will need a little luck in finding my way – Luck is still my friend but decided to work in the background and not allowing all the doors and opportunities to be opened.

Luck 2: Waking up every morning…just start finding things to fill my time outside work – Did not happen.¬† Waking up did, but nothing outside work.

As, you can all see, my goals and plans were dust in the wind rather quickly.¬† Now that a new year is here and pretty much at the same point when last year’s goals petered out, I am ramping up my determination and going to push through everything to obtain these goals this year.

I hope you travel on this journey with me, Dear Bloggites, because it is lonely sometimes and encouragement and especially accountability go a long way.¬† If you do not see me posting for a while, shoot me a comment here and give me the proverbial “Kick in the Ass” to get me going again.

The Struggle Is Real, People!

Hey, All!¬† It’s me again.¬† I know, SHOCKING, two blogs back-to-back, and even more shocking, they are not on book reviews!¬† I am still doing my reviews as I read, but as you can see, with the lack of review posts, that I have not been reading (Bad, P, Goofy JugglingBad!!!).

We all start the new year with grand goals and plans for our life and most of us see those grand goals and plans fizzle as the months go on, well guess what, mine fizzled as soon as it was out of the proverbial gate at the beginning of the year.¬† I love to write, I love to read, I love books, as you know, Dear Bloggites, and I make plans to do this, and this, and this, and then life says, “Deal with THIS!” and all my plans get scattered to the wind.

Last year, 2017, I promised myself that I would get back to writing my novel I started before my Dad’s Cancer spread and was put on hold for me to take care of him and his needs.¬† I was blessed to have those last months with my Dad, but I promised myself after he passed that I was going to focus on my writing.¬† So, Dad passed in August of 2016, and I miss him every freaking day, he was my best friend and my sound board, and I flounder now when I am struggling with things.

I promised myself 2017 would be the year my writing career took off, and I was doing well for the first month and the second month: I was taking writing classes, signing up for writing retreats, writing daily on my novel, etc. and in the third month, my business got busy, so writing was put off due to long days of working my business.  That busyness carried into the fourth month with writing classes going by the wayside along with the writing because my brain was fried from the demands of work.

The fifth month rolls around and I found myself in the hospital with my sister who almost died.  We spent two months in the hospital, her fighting for life, and me fighting for her rights while she could not.  Praise God, the fight won and Four of Seven (my name for her in the Familial Roll Call) came back to us.  She struggled for many months, but she was alive and had all her faculties.

By the time all this took place, I found myself facing the last few months of the 2017 with minimal progress on my writing and all my plans and goals shot to hell and resting where all writing projects go to die.¬† So, I rallied.¬† I promised myself that 2018 was going to be the year my writing career took off (sounds like a bad case of ground hog’s day, the movie) and I was going to change my work hours to accommodate my time to allow focus on writing.¬† I was going to blog regularly, book reviews and writing progress and whatever I want to share, and I was going to start on the classes again and try and give the writing retreat another shot.

Then January 1, 2018 was here, and I was laid up with a severe case of the Flu.  For the first two weeks, I was in bed, barely working, and wishing I was dead just to make the terrible feeling go away.  I recovered from that only to find that my body has decided it wants to start causing me issues with more intense pain aside from my chronic pain I live with from the car accident I had in 2005.  It hurt to move a finger, and I am still struggling with this factor as of today.  But, once again, my plans and goals for my writing career were blown out of the water.

But guess what?  I came prepared with a rope to pull it back in.  Well, sort of.  I am doing writing classes and I am getting so stoked and encouraged that I am feeling the tingle in my fingers and the yearning in my brain to put pen to paper (or finger to keystroke).  Something I honestly have not felt since before my Dad got sick.

See, I can make all these plans and set all these goals, but if the desire and passion are not there, the plans and goals are easy to disregard.  Without passion, any activity or goal becomes work, or for me, just another job after hectic days with my business.

I did not get it until I started listening to all the different authors who were interviewed in the Women In Publishing Summit offered by Alexa Bigwarfe and sponsored by Vivante.¬† This is not a plug for anyone, however, I do want to thank Alexa for bringing the passion back for the writing mojo I love.¬† Alexa’s book, Ditch The Fear-Just Write It!, had the greatest statement that spoke to me.¬† The statement was, “Warning.¬† This is no ordinary plan.¬† It is the ass-kicker you need when you want to give up.”

This statement may not mean anything to you, but OH MY GOODNESS, it was like I was slammed in the head with a resounding, “DUH!!!!”¬† That passionate writing mojo said, “Oh, yeah!¬† Now we got it!”¬† I literally heard these two thoughts (heard thoughts…whaaat?) in my head as soon as I read that statement in Alexa’s book.

There will never been the perfect time to have my “writing career take off” – Life Happens.¬† Life will ALWAYS happen.¬† I will always have road blocks being thrown up at me when it comes to writing.¬† Why, you ask?¬† Because in order to achieve something worthwhile, you will always have challenges testing you and your determination to obtain that achievement.

With this new thought process, I am now embracing my passionate writing mojo and I am just going to do it, no matter what.¬† Even if I am waking up at 4:30am wide awake after falling asleep only 30-minutes to an hour before, I will write.¬† I have thrown out the plans and goals and I am just going to write.¬† It doesn’t matter what I write or even how well I write, as long as I write, I will be organically working those plans and reaching those goals.

Goofy SurprisedIt is so refreshing and freeing to think this way.  I love it!  So, you and I will be having almost daily chats, Dear Bloggite, because I want to share my Journey with you and maybe you will decide to share your journey, no matter what it is, with me, I would love to be there for you and support you in this Journey we call Life.

My challenge to you today: Think about your life.¬† Is there something you always have an intent to do but somehow never get around to doing it?¬† What can you do, to make that intent happen?¬† Are you going to need to throw out the plans and goals, like I had to do or are you going to have to tweak your life a little bit to make it happen?¬† Let me know down below in the comments. ūüôā

New Year, New Start 2017

Hello, Dear Bloggites!¬† If I plan this right, I will post this right at Midnight.¬† As you all know, I have had some major personal challenges with My Dad’s illness and ultimate passing, so my life as I knew it was put on hold to care for him.¬† Since his passing, I have felt like I am floundering.¬† I am at peace knowing he is in heaven with the Good Lord, pain free, and partying with the J-Dude, yet my heart and soul have a deep hole that has yet to begin to heal.

This afternoon, someone posted one of those silly tests you see all the time on Facebook.  This one was a crossword puzzle with the statement that the first word(s) you see will define your 2017 (paraphrasing here on the actual description/directions).  I saw three words right away which got me thinking.  These words may have come from a silly test, but I can see how they do define my plans for this upcoming year.  Those three words were (in order): Change, Passion, Luck.

Change: I do plan on changing much in my life this New Year.  Living wise, alone at last; Health wise, both physical and mental; Work wise, continue to grow my current business and build my wordsmith business; Social wise, beat this reclusive mode and get back out in the world with family and friends.

Change 1: I will find myself on my own again with my son, the dog, and the guinea pig with no roommate for the first time in, geez, years.  This is a wonderful feeling for me.  I have always loved my independence and even though having a roommate is a good financial help, it kills my independence.

Change 2: I have been paying for a gym membership for the past year and have not utilized it due to my Father’s poor health and work demands.¬† I am going to utilize this gym membership to change my health for the better and reach the weight I am happiest at once again.

Change 3: My current business is surviving this lull in the industry and seems to finally have bounced back to allow the financial freedom of working at home to continue.  I will continue to find ways to build income from this business.

Change 4: I am going to take advantage of the social invites I get and start actually going!  I will find the balance to be able to focus on work yet still build my social life I used to enjoy before opening a business.

Passion: I am Italian, I ooze passion but lately my pores have been blocked up.  I still love life but the passion for it was extremely dimmed with the passing of my Dad.  I do plan on reigniting the passionate love affair I hold for life in my professional and personal worlds.

Passion 1: I have a wordsmith business that until recently, has just been a hobby because I have a passionate love affair with anything associated with the written word.  I plan on growing this business up, one client at a time and look forward to the new relationships I shall make along the way.

Passion 2: I am now looking at taking myself seriously as a writer and growing this part of me on a personal level.  All my life I have written in some form or another to comfort my soul.  From journaling my exciting life as a kid to adult all the way to having started my own novel in hopes of publishing.  My goal is to sign up for some form of writing class each month to build my talent as a writer and start opening doors to the publishing world to promote myself as a writer.

Luck: I feel luck is created by opportunities in my life.¬† I find the possibilities and opportunities and from there luck grows.¬† Who doesn’t want luck in their life, heck they even have a sayings for it, “Luck, you’re either born with it or you are not.” or “You either have good luck or bad luck.” etc.

Luck 1: I know with every situation I face, I will need a little luck in finding my way.  The luck will come from determination and communication.  I am determined to see my goals through any time I create them and will stop at nothing to reach them because I always strive to reach the new level of me.  Communication with other like-minded individuals on a professional and personal level will help me find the lucky contact that will help me reach the next level of me on my journey to build my businesses.

Luck 2: Waking up every morning and shaking off the empty hole in my heart and soul and just start finding things to fill my time outside work.¬† My current business demands so much of my time daily, that I tend to just stay home and do nothing when the office is ‘closed’ but no more.¬† Even if it is just getting up, putting on my clothes (no joke, you do not understand how easy it is to just stay in my PJs while working from home, it is after all one of the perks), doing my face (new skin regiments starts on the 1st of January), and going for a drive to the country to sit in a field.

These three items being the words I saw in the silly little test, I am reminded of my above planned goals I have been making for myself.¬† See, I don’t believe in resolutions, they are made to be broken, but planned goals are something you work toward and are not made to be broken.¬† Goals are simply a future achievement of the next level of you.¬† I like that image in my head, so goals are my thing, not resolutions.

My goals associated with the three words are pretty simple, yet complex at the same time.  Change is unavoidable in life and I have some major changes ahead of me as you can see.  Everything that happens in life causes change and I look forward to it, heck, I not only look forward to it, I anticipate it with great passion, and luck!

There you have it, Dear Bloggites, my thoughts on the upcoming New Year and all the wonderful new experiences it holds.  We live in a wonderful world, because after all, we are blessed every day we wake up and breathe in the new day.  I plan on embracing that world with all my heart and soul and I hope you enjoy experiencing these things along the way as I share them with you!

Happy New Year!¬† Keep Being.¬† Keep Experiencing.¬† Keep Sharing.¬† Keep Trekking. ūüôā

Persistent A.R.D.O.R.: Adamant pursuit, Rigorous search, Determined success, Observe results, Reflective thoughts

#BloggiteBits-Persistent Ardor
Persistent A.R.D.O.R.

Persistent or annoying?  I believe that if you desire to achieve something, having strong persistence is only a plus factor in achieving that goal that is desired.  In this installment of the ABCs of encouragement with the #BloggiteBits Campaign, I am going to give you some pointers on living life with Persistent A.R.D.O.R. and achieving those goals you set in all aspects of your life: Adamant pursuit, Rigorous search, Determined success, Observe results, & Reflective thoughts.

Adamant pursuit: Achieving goals in life is something you have to commit to on a regular basis.  Having an adamant pursuit of your goals in life will help you stay focused and keep your dreams alive until the goal is reached.  Living life with persistent ardor keeps the goal in front of you as you go through life.

Rigorous search: Goals require a determined person who will rigorously search for the next step along the way when achieving something.  Rigorous searching does not mean you have to chase things erratically, it just means that you will always look for the next minor step in the ultimate big picture of the desired goal.

Determined success: Determination is the one item that separates the people who achieve their goals and those who do not.¬† Have a determined success mentality will get you that much closer to reaching your goal.¬† This pointer goes along the lines of that saying we all know so well, “Well begun is half done.”¬† Having a determination that you will be successful in achieving your goal puts you way ahead of the game.

Observe results: Observing results as you reach each minor step along your journey to the ultimate goal will help you adjust to how to pursue the next minor step.  Observation is key in all situations, especially ones that deal with reaching your goals.

Reflective thoughts: On your journey to the ultimate big picture goal, be sure to have reflective thoughts on each little success as you complete one minor step toward your goal.  Reflection is good for the mind and soul.  Reflective thoughts help you appreciate what you have accomplished as well as what you will accomplish.  Envisioning the success of reaching your goal goes a long way toward truly achieve it.

#BloggiteBits-Embrace T.I.M.E.

Embrace T.I.M.E.: Technology is secondary, Interact face-to-face, Mute distractions, Exist in real-time

#BloggiteBits-Embrace Time
Embrace T.I.M.E.

Time.  Such a fleeting thing in our lives today.  We never have enough time to do anything, or do we?  On this installment of the ABCs of encouragement with the #BloggiteBits Campaign, I want everyone to slow down with me and Embrace T.I.M.E. on a different, old school level: Technology is secondary, Interact face-to-face, Mute distractions, & Exist in real-time.

Technology is secondary: Yes, I said it, TECHNOLOGY IS SECONDARY.¬† In this fun age of technology where we all want to have the latest and greatest new ‘toys’ out there to play with, we have lost sight of our human counterparts.¬† Embracing time with others does not include staying wired in.¬† When you are with another, put down the phone, tablet, computer, watch, etc. and look at the person you are with and communicate with your WORDS…LOL¬† I know, old school, but it is the best way to cultivate relationships you find dear to you or relationships you want to grow.

Interact face-to-face: Yes, I am requesting you SEE the world around you and look it head on.¬† I know, face-to-face interactions can be awkward, uncomfortable, and downright physically painful if you are not used to it, but get used to it.¬† Nothing beats seeing the reaction in the eyes and face of the person you are talking to when you tell them great news that you have to share!¬† It is amazing how simple face-to-face eye contact will change your whole demeanor throughout the day.¬† Old school talking…egad! Try it, you might like it.

Mute distractions: Distractions come in many forms in our daily lives, from TV to computers to other human beings, distractions are hard to avoid.  When you are spending time with someone, make sure to spend that time in a location with minimal or no distractions to either one of you.  If you cannot ignore the phone vibrating in your pocket, turn it off or put it on silence.  That is a simple distraction that causes lots of issues.  Make sure you are not distracted when engaging someone one-on-one, it will make the visit that much more enjoyable for the two of you.  Long gone are the days of quietude in the world, old school was so much nicer when it came to communicating with others.

Exist in real-time: Yes, real-time, that which is not found in a screen on some computerized device.  Existing in real-time is crucial to maintaining relationships.  So many people today feel better when delved into a game or some social media site, but it does not help real relationships with actual human beings around you.  Be sure when you are spending time with someone you are engaged with them in real-time.  Living, breathing beings are way more fun than those you play with online, even if there is another human being controlling that character you are playing with.  Old school rules, they are hardcore, Baby!

#BloggiteBits-Dream L.A.R.G.E.

Dream L.A.R.G.E.: Learn something new, Anchor to the goal, Remain focused, Generate your chances, Engage in opportunities

#BloggiteBits-Dream Large
Dream L.A.R.G.E.

For my next installment of the ABCs of encouragement with the #BloggiteBits Campaign I want to challenge you to Dream L.A.R.G.E. throughout life: Learn something new, Anchor to the goal, Remain focused, Generate your chances, & Engage in opportunities.

Learn something new: I am a lifelong student.  I am always in the process of learning something new each day.  The first need, when a person has a dream, is to find out everything they can about the dream they are striving for in their life.  I encourage everyone to learn one new thing a day, especially when you are reaching for a dream in life.  An active brain is a healthy, happy brain.  Challenge yourself and get those brain cells busy.  Dreaming of a specific life for yourself usually entails the need to learn or relearn habits in your daily life.  Go for it, become that inner scholar I know you are!

Anchor to the goal: Ah, the G word.¬† I am amazed at how many people cringe when they see the word ‘goal’ attached to something they are reading or doing.¬† To achieve a dream, one must focus on that dream.¬† To help focus on that dream, you should anchor yourself to the goal.¬† Be it the end goal or the little goals in between to reach the end goal, anchoring yourself to it helps keep you grounded and working toward the dream you have in life.¬† It will be challenging at times to keep that anchor in place and many will desire to just let it go, but don’t, Me Matee.¬† Latch onto that anchor and keep on grounding yourself toward that goal.¬† You got this, you know you do! Anchor’s away, Me Boy!

Remain focused: This is probably the hardest step when dreaming large in life.  So many distractions, demands, and deterrents cause people to lose focus on a daily basis.  When dreaming large, your focus needs to stay strong on the dream in life.  Whatever tactics you need to use to keep you focused (such as pictures, encouraging quotes, reminders, or the buddy system), put them in place immediately and be sure to refresh the focus daily.  Dreaming is a risk many people do not want to take in life because of the fear of failure.  As long as you continue to focus and strive toward your dream, you are not a failure.  Dreaming large is a risk, but remaining focused will help lessen that risk.  Ready, Set, Focus!

Generate your chances: I know, Dear Bloggites, you are wondering how to do this step.  Well, it is quite easy to do.  Engulf yourself in all things associated with your dream in life.  If you want to become a dancer, start attending classes and going to places that do the type of dancing you want to learn.  Join groups online and peruse your community activities where you live.  With the use of the internet, you have the ability to generate your chances daily.  As you engage in these activities that are associated with your dream in life, you will meet people, hear of opportunities, and before you know it, get the opportunity to do your dream.  Take a chance, worst thing that can happen is you make some new friends with the same interests, but the best things, oh those best things, THEY are what you want!

Engage in opportunities: This step goes hand-in-hand with the one above.  It does you no good if you do not embrace the chance and take the opportunity that is generated for you on the road to your dream in life.  It will be scary and risky, but it will also be exhilarating and fulfilling.  Engage in all opportunities given to you.  Remember, you have the right to dream large in life and even more importantly, you DESERVE it!
