Celebrate L.I.F.E.: Laugh daily, Invest in happiness, Focus on joy, Envision a better tomorrow

#BloggiteBits-Celebrate Life
Celebrate L.I.F.E.

Repeat after me: never start a new tradition during any holiday season! 😦

I must apologize for not posting this the day I actually posted my third installation of the ABCs of encouragement with the #BloggiteBits Campaign.  Life does get in the way, but even though it gets in the way of our planned moments, it should always be celebrated, which is what I have been doing for the holiday season. 😀

As I have been doing, Dear Bloggites, I encourage you to join me on my journey and Celebrate L.I.F.E. with these simple habits: Laugh daily, Invest in happiness, Focus on joy, & Envision a better tomorrow.

Laugh daily: This is a fairly simple concept, yet so many people forget to do it.  Laughing helps release those much needed endorphins that help a person feel good and relax.  People take life so seriously and are in such a rush they forget to realize living is a treasure to experience and laughter the compliment to that treasure.  When you are make it a point to laugh during the worst of times, you will find that those bad times are not too overwhelming to deal with.  I always choose to laugh and dance through life rather than cry and mope.  Remember, Laughter is contagious just like negativity.  Which do you think is better?

Invest in happiness: Here is a strange concept, how do you invest in happiness?  Happiness is not a tangible item that brings money in…or is it?  Happiness is a tangible item that very well may affect your income.  Think about people you know in your circle of friends who have success in their careers?  What are some similar qualities they possess?  I bet the majority of them are happy people in their personal lives.  Happiness is a trait that helps swing the vote in companies that are looking to promote employees, especially into upper management positions.  That old adage we all know, “You catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar” resonates with this theory of happiness.  People are drawn to happy people because when you are a happy person, you become more approachable.  Investing in happiness on a daily level not only helps improve your mind, heart, & soul it extends to all other aspects of your life.

Focus on joy: There is a distinct difference between Joy and Happiness.  Happiness is a fleeting emotion, determined by circumstances whereas Joy is a constant emotion, no matter what circumstances you are facing.  Even though the two emotions go hand in hand, focusing on joy helps you see the wonderful things in your life even during the hard times.  This habit is very hard to do because it is during the hard times that you can truly see all that you have to be joyful about.  Joy in life is an inner glow that never shuts off and in many cases may be the guiding force you have to get you through a situation.  Focusing on joy is a wonderful exercise to put you in the humble state of mind called appreciation.

Envision a better tomorrow: Egad! Have I just requested a habit from you that requires having a hope in the future!  Yes, Dear Bloggites, I have!  When a person can envision a want or desire, they usually find it easier to obtain.  If you take the time at the end of your day and envision what you would like to achieve the next day, you help psych yourself to make that vision of tomorrow happen.  I encourage you to envision not only tomorrow, but a better tomorrow than your current day you are having.  By taking the time at the end of each day and envision a better tomorrow, you will be one step ahead of a positive outcome for any challenges that may be faced tomorrow.

In Times of Trouble, Give A Little Chuckle

“Why do we laugh at such terrible things? Because comedy is often the sarcastic realization of inescapable tragedy.” ~Bryant H. McGill

“If by chance some day you’re not feeling well and you should remember some silly thing I’ve said or done and it brings back a smile to your face or a chuckle to your heart, then my purpose as your clown has been fulfilled.” ~Red Skelton

As I write this blog I am sitting in the hospital room with my Mother thinking about all the other times we have sat up here in the past six months or so. It is no fun when your Parental Units (AKA Parents) are getting old. Even though they feel young in their minds still, their bodies carry on that fun dance of “No You’re Not.”

One of the best qualities of my family is that we all have a sense of humor and find those chuckling or laughing moments in even the direst of situations. Perfect example, several months ago, my Mom was doing her duty as a dedicated Catholic and was walking in from the pouring rain to the church foyer for Ash Wednesday. When she stepped into the foyer, her foot caught on the temporary carpet and she fell on her right knee and broke her femur (thigh bone) right above the knee and the bone broke through the skin.

Ouch, right? Well, there happened to be a large statue of Jesus Christ right in front of where she fell, so me, being me, walked into her hospital room and said, “You know, Mom. When they say, ‘Fall at the Feet of Jesus,’ they did not mean it LITERALLY!” My Mom, Dad, brothers, and sisters all busted out laughing. It is what we needed to alleviate the worry and stress of what this fall and break would mean to my Mother.

So, I once again sit here, in the hospital room because this time, she was brought in to the ER with a severe headache, pain in her neck, shoulders, and chest. The ER doc (after several hours) decided there was something going on and he admitted her to the hospital. The going joke in our family is Mom is so determined to get all her kids together, she schedules her hospital stays around the holidays…LOL

As Mom sits and eats her lunch, we are enjoying the various members of the hospital who are coming in and making sure she is okay and if we need anything. This hospital staff are the best, and it is not because my parents are frequent fliers into their rooms. 😉

I think everyone tries to find some form of encouragement when times of trouble hits their lives and for us, giving a little chuckle or full out belly laugh is how we cope. It not only strengthens our family unit as a whole, it gives much relief to all the stress and worry that tries to take up residence in our minds and hearts.

My suggestion to you, Dear Bloggites, next time you are faced with a time of trouble, give a little chuckle. I promise, you will feel much better and more appreciative of what you have in your life.

Life As I Know It

Hello, Dear Bloggites!!! 🙂  Long time, no blog, eh?  I remember stating a few blogs ago that I was going to try and blog at least once a week…so far…not doing so well…Ha! 😉

Life is an enjoyable thing to me.  I love living and knowing that every day when I wake up a new adventure awaits my trouble-maker hands…LOL Most of the time I do not have to search out the trouble, it just finds me, but sometimes I do wander down a path that will take me to trouble…WHAT?…I am human, you know!…or I was last time I checked…not a Zombie just yet. 😉

I just wanted to say that Life As I Know It is constantly changing…the life I know is on a whirlwind of twists and turns and loops and drops and climbs…just a Fabu Ride, Baby! 🙂  I am just holding on and rolling with the punches…you know the ones, cherry, limeaide, black cherry, grape…those punches…:-D

Well, Life As I Know It is ever changing and I am Loving Every Minute of IT!!!

Family Fun

My wonderful son, Travis, wonderful daughter-in-law, Tori, and beautiful granddaughter, Airy, were home this week. It was so wonderful to see the three of them. Only complaint I have is the week ended too quickly.

Airy has gotten so big and man oh man is she a busy young lady! She has this new way of breaking the rules without breaking the rules…her solution to Mommy and Daddy telling her ‘no’ to messing with something is to turn around, put her hands behind her back and begin walking backwards toward the taboo item she was told no to messing with! She is such a smart kiddo! 🙂

Travis and Tori, TnT, are awesome as always. They both would love to move here to Texas, but have to wait for a few more years due to the contract they signed with their home. Hopefully when they decide to come home for good they will both be able to find a job that will be compatible with the money they are making now.

That is pretty much it for now, Dear Bloggites, see you on the Flip Side!!!

Blogging-Self-Centered or Sharing???

So, my BFF, Tracy, and I were having a discussion the other night. I made the statement that when I am away from people I believe they do not give me a second thought after she stated that she felt people talked about her and her weight as soon as she was gone.

After my statement, she said I was full of BS, because, if I felt no one thought about me when they are away from me I would not have a blog….so I started thinking about this.

I started this blog because of requests I received from some friends who asked me to start one so they could keep up with my crazy life…so I was bored one day and created it. Now, I blog because I have thoughts up in my brain that I have no one around to share with at that moment.

I do not think my blogging is from a self-centered stand point but from a sharing stand point. Now, if no one reads the blogs I guess it is a mote point….LOL, however, this conversation the other day with the BFF has prompted me to put this into writing.

So I now ask you, Dear Bloggites, do I seem self-centered in my blogs or do I seem like I am sharing a thought I felt others might enjoy reading?
