Here’s What I know; Here’s What I Believe

Here is what I know: People Suck

We as a human race are so self-centered and self-focused on what “I want” and what’s “In it for me?” and what “I am entitled to” and on and on and on.

GET OVER YOURSELF!!!

The “I, I, I” and “Me, Me, Me” mentality is so over the top!  And I grew up in the 80s – the most materialistic era of “Beautiful People”!

Here is what I believe: People are Amazing

Every individual is amazingly unique and provides something worth knowing – no matter how small.

EMBRACE YOUR UNIQUENESS!!!

I believe every person out there has a desire to spread happiness and/or joyful encouragement.  I mean, Everyone really wants World Peace! 🙂

I love to meet people where they are in their life journey and then continue with them onto the next level of self together.

Here is what I live: Rule #32 – Appreciate the Little Things in Life

I live each day with a purpose and one thought in mind when I wake up – make a difference for just one person.

DO YOU, BABY!!!

I wake up every morning believing I make a difference no matter what.  Each action, each word, each gesture I make has an impact.  Even if all I do in a day is to organize the haphazard shopping carts in the cart zone, I believe that random act made a difference for the employee responsible for collecting all the carts because I helped them for a moment in their life on the job.

Here is what I find: It Is Not Easy

I suffer from chronic pain daily and many times I wake up to a rebellious broken body that the thought of simply moving is the last thing I want to do.

I HAVE TO CHOOSE!!!

I choose to make a point of making a difference, especially on those pain filled days, I especially need to intentionally follow Rule #32 because I believe that when a simple act is done, it creates a ripple – as if a single rain drop lands on a still pond – that ripple spreads.  As it spreads, I know it will return back to me in such an amazing way that for a moment, I forget People Suck and I remember Each Person is Unique and they provide something worth knowing – no matter how small.

My Challenge to you, Dear Bloggites, is this: Take today and intentionally do a random act of kindness, no matter how small, because it is how we all can Appreciate the Little Things in Life #Rule32. 🙂

#BloggiteBits-Embrace T.I.M.E.

Embrace T.I.M.E.: Technology is secondary, Interact face-to-face, Mute distractions, Exist in real-time

#BloggiteBits-Embrace Time
Embrace T.I.M.E.

Time.  Such a fleeting thing in our lives today.  We never have enough time to do anything, or do we?  On this installment of the ABCs of encouragement with the #BloggiteBits Campaign, I want everyone to slow down with me and Embrace T.I.M.E. on a different, old school level: Technology is secondary, Interact face-to-face, Mute distractions, & Exist in real-time.

Technology is secondary: Yes, I said it, TECHNOLOGY IS SECONDARY.  In this fun age of technology where we all want to have the latest and greatest new ‘toys’ out there to play with, we have lost sight of our human counterparts.  Embracing time with others does not include staying wired in.  When you are with another, put down the phone, tablet, computer, watch, etc. and look at the person you are with and communicate with your WORDS…LOL  I know, old school, but it is the best way to cultivate relationships you find dear to you or relationships you want to grow.

Interact face-to-face: Yes, I am requesting you SEE the world around you and look it head on.  I know, face-to-face interactions can be awkward, uncomfortable, and downright physically painful if you are not used to it, but get used to it.  Nothing beats seeing the reaction in the eyes and face of the person you are talking to when you tell them great news that you have to share!  It is amazing how simple face-to-face eye contact will change your whole demeanor throughout the day.  Old school talking…egad! Try it, you might like it.

Mute distractions: Distractions come in many forms in our daily lives, from TV to computers to other human beings, distractions are hard to avoid.  When you are spending time with someone, make sure to spend that time in a location with minimal or no distractions to either one of you.  If you cannot ignore the phone vibrating in your pocket, turn it off or put it on silence.  That is a simple distraction that causes lots of issues.  Make sure you are not distracted when engaging someone one-on-one, it will make the visit that much more enjoyable for the two of you.  Long gone are the days of quietude in the world, old school was so much nicer when it came to communicating with others.

Exist in real-time: Yes, real-time, that which is not found in a screen on some computerized device.  Existing in real-time is crucial to maintaining relationships.  So many people today feel better when delved into a game or some social media site, but it does not help real relationships with actual human beings around you.  Be sure when you are spending time with someone you are engaged with them in real-time.  Living, breathing beings are way more fun than those you play with online, even if there is another human being controlling that character you are playing with.  Old school rules, they are hardcore, Baby!

You Don’t Know Me, You Know OF Me…

“Ogres are like onions.  Onions have layers.  Ogres have layers…You get it?  We both have layers.” ~Shrek

People are like Ogres, we all have layers to our true selves.  A friend of mine, many years ago, made a statement to me when I said, “Trust me, I know you.”  She looked at me and said, “You don’t know me, you know Of me.” and I got it.  I agreed.  Each person in our lives see the person you are that matches best with their personality and interests.  It is not fake, at least for most, it is just a layer of their true essence.

I am a perfect example of being like an Ogre.  There are so many layers to my interests, I can find something in common with any person I come into contact with.  My Bestie always accuses me of changing who I am when it comes to men I am interested in.  I see why she says that, however, the man of the hour is going to see that part of me that shares similar interests.  Not fake, not changing me, just being another layer of me.  I do it with everyone, men, women, children, co-workers, friends, family, and strangers.  I am not afraid to expose my layers if it will bring some happiness, no matter how brief, into someone’s life.

After hearing the statement, “You don’t know me, you know of me,” I have kind of made it my mantra to those that like to think they truly know me.  Half the time, I wonder if I truly know myself, Dear Bloggites, let alone having someone else truly know me…LOL

I am a people person.  I have been told many times that there is just something about me that attracts all walks of life to me wherever I go.  I don’t get it, but I cannot disagree.  I love to people watch and I love to hear everyone’s story.  I love to validate that person’s life for the brief moment I get to share with them because in the end, that is all we want.  To be validated.  To believe that someone believes our life matters, to be a witness to our life we live.

People love to feel they belong and that they are thought of when they are not around.  Most people go through life without truly feeling that validation to their existence, and it hurts my heart.  Every life is precious.  Every story has meaning.  Every layer matters.

Embrace your UberOgre inside and be proud of those layers to your life.  It brings joy, not only to those you interact with, but to your true self.  If you have something you always wanted to try, do it.  Build those layers in your life because it will only make you richer.

Feeling Feisty

Hello, Dear Bloggites, I am feeling feisty today! 😉  I was sitting here at home, bored out of my mind because I actually found down time, and decided to give in to the curiosity bug.  My good friend, Mary (say Hi, Mary!), is always talking about this one site where she connects with old and new friends.  This site seems to have opened a fun and interesting world for her and I just wanted to know what all the hype was about.

So, me, being me, decided to open an account on this site….I know…trouble, trouble, trouble, especially with me feeling feisty! 😉  I open this account, and within seconds, I have all these notifications and messages…it was a major ego boost I am telling you! LOL

Several of these guys are in my area of town…hmm…trouble, trouble, trouble…and one even offered to come over to my place and help me figure out the site…yeah…okay…raincheck, dude! LOL What he does not know is NO ONE knows where I live and there is a reason for that…I have my son and my brother and sister-in-law who live with me and I do not mix my social life with my family life…just don’t do it…so don’t ask to find out where I live because I won’t tell you. 🙂

This site is very fun and the people I have met so far seem rather nice…some are just friendly, some are just flirty, some are just horny, and some are just liking my profile picture….Ha!  I am pretty sure I am going to enjoy this site and I know my ego definitely does!

Well, Toodles for now, until next time, have an UberGoofy Day!
